Welcome to Vasilias Nikoklis Inn
Not every Cyprus wedding has to take place beside the sea.
Hidden in the countryside outside Paphos, Vasilias Nikoklis Inn offers something quite different: an intimate, traditional Cypriot setting filled with stone, greenery, mature trees and the kind of character that simply can’t be recreated in a modern hotel ballroom.
The family-owned property has more than a century of history, with the current family owners associated with the Inn since 1983. Today, it operates as a private wedding venue while retaining much of the atmosphere and traditional character of an old Cypriot inn.
Come and explore Vasilias with me
When you’re planning a destination wedding from abroad, photographs can only tell you so much.
You need to understand how you arrive, where your guests gather, where you’ll walk down the aisle, how everyone moves from the ceremony to cocktails and dinner — and what the venue actually feels like.
That’s exactly why I created my Finding Your Perfect Cyprus Venue series.
In this episode, come with me as I take you around Vasilias Nikoklis Inn and show you the spaces that could become part of your wedding day.
The ceremony
One of the things I particularly like about Vasilias is that couples aren’t limited to one ceremony setting.
The garden
For couples dreaming of an outdoor ceremony surrounded by nature, the garden offers a wonderfully relaxed setting among established trees and greenery.
The venue provides rustic ceremony seating, a handmade ceremony table and a wooden arch with white draping, which means the setting already has a strong foundation before additional florals or styling are introduced. The couple can choose between or combine wooden chairs and benches as their guests’ ceremony seating.
And this is one of those locations where I don’t think you need to fight the surroundings with excessive décor.
Soft florals, greenery, fabric and perhaps a few beautifully considered details can complement what is already there rather than trying to transform it into something it isn’t.

The traditional courtyard
For a more intimate ceremony, there is also the beautiful vine-covered courtyard.
Stone, greenery and the traditional architecture give this space a completely different atmosphere from the garden.
This is one of the qualities I love about venues with genuine history: the architecture becomes part of the wedding design.
You aren’t starting with an empty white room and trying to create atmosphere. It’s already there.
Cocktails in the Cypriot countryside
After the ceremony, guests can move into another area of the property for the drinks reception rather than remaining in the same setting all afternoon.
The traditional courtyard can be used for cocktails, while the carob-tree area provides another outdoor cocktail reception space. It all depends on how you choose to utilize the spaces.
From a wedding-planning perspective, I really value venues that allow us to create this progression.
Ceremony → cocktails → dinner → party.
Even though everything happens within one venue, guests keep discovering something new without traveling far.
It also gives your planning and styling team an opportunity to create slightly different atmospheres throughout the day without needing to transport your guests from one venue to another.
Dinner beneath the fairy lights
And then we come to one of my favorite parts of Vasilias: the reception terrace.
Dinner takes place beneath the pergola, where fairy lights stretch above the tables and create a completely different atmosphere once daylight disappears. The venue provides rustic tables and chairs for up to 120 seated guests, with the fairy lighting already installed above the dinner area.
Long tables can look particularly beautiful here, although your layout should always be determined by your guest numbers and the experience you want to create.
Imagine candlelight, relaxed florals, beautiful stationery, good Cypriot food, wine on the tables and all of your favorite people sitting together beneath the lights.
It doesn’t feel overly formal. It offers warmth and family coziness.
And that’s precisely the charm.

From dinner to dancing
Once dinner and speeches are finished, the celebration can move again.
Vasilias has a dedicated pool and dance area, allowing the evening party to feel like the next chapter of the wedding rather than simply clearing a few tables to make room for dancing.
Wedding photographs with character
When couples think about wedding photographs in Cyprus, they often immediately imagine the sea.
But Cyprus offers much more than coastline.
At Vasilias, your backdrop becomes stone architecture, old archways, greenery, mature trees, countryside and the textures of a traditional Cypriot property.
The venue itself highlights its surrounding fields, olive groves, stone arches and jasmine-filled corners as photography locations.
For the right couple, those images can feel incredibly timeless.
And because you’re already surrounded by these locations, you don’t necessarily have to disappear from your wedding for a long photoshoot elsewhere.
Stay at the Inn
Another lovely feature is that Vasilias isn’t simply an event space.
There are eight double rooms available at the property, including a bridal suite and preparation room, and breakfast is included the following morning when accommodation is booked. This way the bride can stay there, wake up the morning of her Big day and enjoy a slow morning with her girlfriends.
Of course, eight rooms won’t accommodate an entire destination-wedding guest list, so most guests would still stay elsewhere and transport will be arranged for them to the venue and then back to their hotels/accommodations at the end of the night.
What I love about Vasilias as a wedding planner
For me, the biggest strength of Vasilias is that it knows exactly what it is.
It isn’t trying to be a five-star beach resort.
It’s a traditional Cypriot countryside venue with personality, history and warmth — and that’s precisely why it works.
I also love the way the spaces allow the wedding to unfold naturally throughout the property:
Garden or courtyard ceremony → drinks reception → fairy-lit dinner → poolside dancing.
The venue accommodates weddings from approximately 20 to 120 guests, which also makes it particularly interesting for couples who want something more intimate and private rather than a celebration inside a huge hall. And the space looks full and amazing even with 20 guests.
Exclusive use is another significant advantage. You’re creating your celebration within a private wedding venue rather than sharing the surrounding areas with hotel guests or other events.
Who would I recommend Vasilias Nikoklis Inn to?
I would definitely put Vasilias on your Cyprus venue shortlist if you’re dreaming of something that feels:
Authentic · Rustic · Intimate · Private · Romantic · Mediterranean · Relaxed
I’d particularly recommend exploring it if you’re drawn to Cyprus itself, rather than simply wanting to get married somewhere sunny.
There’s a difference.
Vasilias allows the stone, food, countryside, architecture and traditional hospitality of the island to become part of the wedding experience.

A few things I would consider before booking
Every beautiful venue also needs to work practically for your wedding.
Vasilias is approximately 17 km from Paphos town and around 7 km from Paphos International Airport. Because of its countryside location, guests generally need organized transport, taxis or their own vehicles.
For a destination wedding, I wouldn’t see that as a reason not to choose it — I would simply make guest transportation part of the wedding plan from the beginning.
Could Vasilias Nikoklis Inn be your perfect Cyprus venue?
Choosing a destination wedding venue isn’t simply about finding somewhere that looks beautiful on Instagram.
It’s about finding somewhere that feels right for you.
Perhaps you imagine the Mediterranean stretching behind you as you exchange your vows.
Perhaps you dream of a luxurious five-star resort.
Or perhaps your version of Cyprus is something completely different — an old stone building in the countryside, a ceremony beneath the trees, dinner under fairy lights and a long table filled with the people you love.
If the latter sounds like you, Vasilias Nikoklis Inn may be one to add to your list.
And that’s exactly what my Finding Your Perfect Cyprus Venue series is about: helping you look beyond the photographs and understand what each venue could actually feel like on your wedding day.
If you’re considering Vasilias Nikoklis Inn — or you’re still searching for the Cyprus venue that feels completely you — I’d love to help you find it and create everything that comes afterwards.
